On the 29th of June, in Sava Square, on the occasion of Vidovdan, a concert was held at which the ‘Lazarus’ symphonic poem, composed by Veljko Kuzmančević, was performed by the symphony orchestra led by conductor Djordje Stanković.
The artistic sound-visual performance revived the memory of one of the most important Serbian rulers, and this is the first time that a programme of this type has been organized in Sava Square. The symphonic performance of the work was accompanied by a depiction of the life of Stefan Nemanja, the great endower of the monasteries Djurdjevi Stupovi, Studenica, Hilandar…
Before the beginning of the concert, the Minister of Youth and Sports Vanja Udovičić addressed the audience with the following words:
‘Thank you to our partners, and to all of you who are part of this programme for enabling us, after a long time, without masks covering our faces, to participate in an event like this, which I am sure we all missed. Tonight is not the time for conversation, let us all enjoy wonderful music, wonderful performance. Culture, welcome back to Belgrade! Enjoy!’
One of the goals of this programme is to include young people with disabilities in the cultural activities of the society and the contents that nurture the culture and traditions of the Serbian people, which was achieved in cooperation with the ‘Faith Love Hope’ association.
The organizer of this special event is the Belgrade Festivals Centre – CEBEF, the patron is the Ministry of Youth and Sports, and the support is provided by the City of Belgrade.
