Young Opera Singers Sing Songs by Cartoon Heroes
‘Summer Stage’ of the Students' City Cultural Centre, June 3 at 8.30 p.m.
The programme will present popular melodies from cartoons, performed by young opera artists, with modern arrangements with piano accompaniment. On the path of affirmation and gaining professional experience, young artists, with their attractive and dynamic performance, in costumes of cartoon heroes, will bring classical music closer to children and young people.
Cartoons, as an unavoidable part of growing up, are a great way to introduce children to art music. The wider audience is enabled to get acquainted with the conventions of the opera genre, and music, which belongs to high art, becomes a part of mass culture by changing the context and media. The combination of opera singers and famous music, the combination of mass and high culture, enables attractive music from cartoons to show its classical dimension, the art of opera becomes accessible, and opera singers become famous heroes.
The 50-minute programme contains melodies from cartoons: The Lion King, Aladdin, Sleeping Beauty, Beauty and the Beast, The Little Mermaid, Anastasia and others.
