Ceremonial event on occasion of anniversary of May Assembly

Branko Radičević Square, Sremski Karlovci

15 May 2024

The Committee for Nurturing the Traditions of the Liberation Wars of Serbia under the Government of the Republic of Serbia for the first time made a decision to organize a music and stage programme at the ceremonial event on the occasion of marking the May Assembly of the Serbian people in Vojvodina in 1848.

Our cultural institution, the Belgrade Festivals Centre – CEBEF, was given the exceptional honor of being the first to create and realize that segment of the programme.

Actors Vjera Mujović, Vesna Stanković, Gojko Baletić and Duško Radović participated in the programme written and directed by Vojislav Milin, which was performed on the stage in front of the Patriarchate in Sremski Karlovci. The Clerical High School of Saint Arsenije Choir from Sremski Karlovci and the orchestra of the school ‘Jovan Jovanović Zmaj’, conducted by Mile Radonić, performed in the musical part of the programme. The programme was led by Dragana Anastasijević, a journalist of Radio and Television of Serbia.

On behalf of the Government of the Republic of Serbia, the Minister of Labour, Employment, Veteran and Social Affairs, Nemanja Starović, laid a wreath and, alongside Maja Gojković, President of the Government of Vojvodina and Bálint Juhász, President of the Assembly of Vojvodina, gave an inspiring speech.

Danijela Cvetić immortalized the entire event with her photographs.
