The 9th International conference on music and minimalism "Minimalist Interesections" was opened on Wednesday, 29 May at the Festive Hall of the Serbian Academy of Sciences and Arts. In the presence of the SASA president, Academician Zoran Knežević, and secretary of the Department of Arts, Academician Ivan Jevtić, the conference participants from all over the world were welcomed by dr Katarina Tomašević, director of the Institute of Musicology SASA, dr John Pymm, interim president of the Society for Minimalist Music, and dr Jelena Janković-Beguš, programme manager for art music at the Belgrade Festivals Center - CEBEF.
The ‘Minimalist Intersections’ Conference, which takes place for the first time in Belgrade and South-Eastern Europe and welcomes about a hundred delegates from all over the world, is organized by the Serbian Academy of Sciences and Arts (SASA), SASA Institute of Musicology, Society for Minimalist Music, Belgrade Festivals Centre – CEBEF, Cultural center "Parobrod," and "Mokranjac" Music School from Belgrade.
The conference and concert programme are supported by the City of Belgrade – Secretariat for Culture, Ministry of Culture and Ministry of Science, Technological Development and Innovation of the Republic of Serbia, SOKOJ (Organization of Music Authors of Serbia), Emory University from Atlanta (Georgia, USA) and the European Commission through the Erasmus+ programme.
