On 18 March 2024, the famous pianist Ivo Pogorelić held a concert with the Vojvodina Symphony Orchestra, under the direction of conductor Aleksandar Marković, in the Kolarac Endowment, which was filled to capacity, where they received applause and several minutes of ovations.
The concert, organized by the Belgrade Festivals Centre – CEBEF, had sold out a month in advance, and Pogorelić and artists from Novi Sad delighted the visitors with their performance.
In the first part of the concert, which began with the work ‘Islamey: Oriental Fantasy' (Mily Balakirev), Sergei Rachmaninoff 's Piano Concerto No. 2 in C Minor, for piano and orchestra, was performed, with Florin Iliescu as concertmaster.
In the second part of the concert, the symphonic suite ‘Scheherazade’ by Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov was performed on the occasion of the 180th anniversary of the composer's birth. Violinist Iliescu, the first concertmaster of the Frankfurt Radio Symphony, appeared as a soloist, for whom this was his first performance in Belgrade and his first performance with maestro Pogorelić. In the audience were numerous distinguished figures from the world of art, as well as other prominent figures, including Rade Radivojević, Vladimir Marković, Mira Adanja-Polak and others.
