The Holland Baroque ensemble, led by the harpsichordist Tineke Steenbrink and violinist Judith Steenbrink, is considered one of the best European ensembles for baroque music and historically informed interpretation. The ensemble has collaborated with leading European soloists such as the gambist Paolo Pandolfo, soprano Emma Kirkby, mandolinist Avi Avital, cellist Giovanni Sollima and many others. The Holland Baroque is recognized for its innovative programs and unconventional approach, erasing the frontiers between genres and epochs.
Organised by the Belgrade Festivals Center (CEBEF), the Holland Baroque performs for the first time in Belgrade, sharing the stage with the Belgrade Baroque ensemble. This exciting collaboration has been set in motion at the initiative of the violinist Katarina Aleksić, herself the member of both ensembles, as a part of the concert series “Europe Be My Guest 2021.”
The program entitled Mundus inversus showcases a wide range of Italian instrumental concerti of the 17th and 18th centuries, from ‘concerti grossi’ passing by the virtuoso concerti and leading to the ‘Rococo’ style.
The musical encounter of two exceptional baroque music ensembles guarantees a unique concert experience.
