Concert of Branka Parlić and Nataša Penezić on March 24 at Kolarac Opens the Music Programme of the Kontakt Conference

The concert of Branka Parlić and Nataša Penezić in the Ilija M. Kolarac Endowment opens the music programme of the Kontakt conference on March 24 at 9 p.m. The concert entitled ‘PAVANA AND MORE – Music for Solo Piano and Two Pianos’ will present works by Steve Martland, Gavin Bryars, Meredith Monk, Dragoljub Ilić Ilke, William Duckworth and Philip Glass.   

 

Branka Parlić graduated from the Faculty of Music in Belgrade under Professor Olga Mihailović. She also studied under Professor Pierre Sancan at the International Summer Academy in Nice, France. She is dedicated to promoting the work of French composer Erik Satie, as well as New Music of the 20th and 21st centuries. She has participated in numerous European and regional festivals. Her recordings and videos are broadcast on radio and television stations in the region, as well as on the British TV channels Classic FM and C Music TV. Branka Parlić is the winner of the Global Music Awards for 2020. Her releases so far include LP Initiés (1988), CD Initiés 88 – Initiés 99, CD Metamorphosis (2006), LP Satie & Beyond (2013), Double LP Initiés (2017). As an active pianist, concert organizer, pedagogue and lecturer, for many years she deals with the affirmation and promotion of New Music. She has been a member of the Ensemble for Different New Music since its founding in 1977. Since 2006, she has been the artistic director of the ‘New Ears for New Music’ concert series dedicated to New Music.  

 

Nataša Penezić earned both her bachelor's and master's degree from the Academy of Arts in Novi Sad under Professor Svetlana Bogino. After obtaining her second master’s degree from the Royal College of Music in Stockholm where she studied under the guidance of Professor Staffan Scheja, she completed her PhD at the Faculty of Music in Belgrade under the supervision of Professor Dubravka Jovičić in 2018. After holding a faculty position at the Academy of Arts in Novi Sad from 2014 to 2019, she joined the teaching staff of the Faculty of Music in Belgrade in 2019, where she is an Assistant Professor of Piano as a Complementary Course (History of Pianism and Piano Literature). She has participated in numerous festivals including Klangspuren Festival, IMPULS Graz, Ghent Festival, Ars Musica Brussels, Aarhus Festival, Kassel Minimal Music Festival, Euro Arts Music Festival, European Clarinet Festival Ghent, Citta di Chioggia, Musica in Laguna, Aurora Festival, Niš Music Festival (NIMUS), International Review of Composers in Belgrade and Osijek, BUNT festival, Ring Ring festival and Palić European Film Festival. She made her debut as a guest of honor in 2000 in Moscow with the KREDO Orchestra and conductor Nina Mitrikovskaya. She performed with the Chioggia Symphony Orchestra, the SYNC Centre Ensemble from Novi Sad, as well as the Muzikon Chamber Orchestra. She is devoted to promoting the music of the 20th and 21st centuries, and actively collaborates with composers, among whom Frederic Rzewski, Sofia Gubaidulina and Jasmina Mitrušić stand out. Since 2017, she has been a member of the Ensemble for Different New Music.      

 

Tickets for the ‘PAVANA AND MORE – Music for Solo Piano and Two Pianos’ concert are available at the box office of the Ilija M. Kolarac Endowment. Prices are 800, 1,000 and 1,200 RSD. The concert starts at 9 p.m.
